BOB SEGER – Against The Wind lyrics

It seems like yesterday
But it was long ago
Janey was lovely she was the queen of my nights
There in the darkness with the radio playing low
And the secrets that we shared
The mountains that we moved
Caught like a wildfire out of control
‘Til there was nothing left to burn and nothing left to prove Read More »

An Ottawa man has been chosen as an honorary walker in a Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation Take Steps walk.

Kyle Duffy, 18, will be participating in the walk on Sunday, June 14, in Lisle. His mother, Vicki Duffy, believes Kyle likely was chosen because of the success he had last year raising funds. Sutter Resigns as Devils Coach

Devils Coach Brent Sutter resigned on Tuesday, saying he wanted to concentrate on his family and the junior hockey team he owns in Red Deer, Alberta.

Sutter made his announcement on a conference call Tuesday afternoon, several weeks after the Devils’ season ended with a crushing Game 7 first-round playoff loss to Carolina. He said that loss did not influence his decision.

“It had to do with a lot of things back here in Red Deer,” Sutter said. “There were circumstances that have occurred especially over the last year that has made it increasingly more difficult and I have to do the right thing and the right thing was to step back and evaluate everything and go through the process that I had to go through and then my decision came down to what it is.”

Sutter, who turns 47 this week, has said he struggled with being away from his family. His decision did not come as a surprise to the Devils. He leaves with one year left on the three-year contract he signed when General Manager Lou Lamoriello hired him in 2007.

The Devils were 97-56-11 in Sutter’s two seasons, but twice lost in the first round of the playoffs. In 2008, the Rangers knocked them out in five games. This season, Carolina scored two goals in the final 1 minute 20 seconds to win Game 7.

Sutter said he left with no regrets, despite the way his tenure ended.

“It was a great experience,” he said. “I don’t regret that at all. It was two years there and I got the chance to be around some great people and all of the players that I coached over that period of time were fantastic.”

The Devils could turn to one of Sutter’s assistants, also their former player, John McLean. But another possibility is the return of Jacques Lemaire, the coach of the Devils’ first Stanley Cup team in 1995, who recently resigned after eight seasons as Minnesota’s coach.

This will be the Devils’ 10th coaching change since Lemaire left in 1998. Twice Lamoriello has taken over after firing a coach and the former defenseman Larry Robinson has had two stints as coach.

Air France Wreckage, 24 Bodies Pulled From Atlantic

www.salepuma.com

June 9 (Bloomberg) — Brazil’s military recovered wreckage from Air France flight 447 that may indicate what caused the jet to plunge into the Atlantic Ocean last week, as search teams pulled more bodies from the water.

“Hundreds of pieces of the crashed plane have been retrieved,” Brazilian Air Force Colonel Henry Munhoz told reporters yesterday. While Munhoz declined to comment on reports the plane’s tail fin was found, a piece of debris in the shape of a tail fin was retrieved by search teams.

Brazilian and French teams yesterday pulled eight bodies from the ocean, taking the total to 24. The Airbus SAS A330-200 went down June 1 en route from Rio de Janeiro to Paris, carrying 216 passengers and 12 crewmembers. There were no survivors.

French ships and submarines equipped with underwater listening devices are trying to locate the jet’s flight data recorders, known as black boxes, which may provide clues as to what caused the crash.

Investigators are examining whether ice damage or the obstruction of the jet’s airspeed sensors caused unreliable readings, which may have contributed to the accident. Air France says it began replacing the component with a more ice-resistant version in late April, 18 months after Airbus advised customers to make the switch. Read More »
